Arianna Wellmoney: Aliens, food and apps

 

Arianna Wellmoney (stage name for Arianna Guelmani) is a young Italian actress (born in Casoretto, Milan) that lives and works in New York City.

 

AArianna, you graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in April 2016. Since then, you participated in a lot of plays, movies, TV shows and web series… What have you been doing in the past couple years?

 I had a lot of interesting projects. First, the web series “Immigrants Eat It!”, a mini series that showed the reaction of immigrants eating American food for the first time. After that, I had the great opportunity of being a testimonial for Tinder. It really meant a lot to me on a personal level: showing that there are a lot of sexual orientations helped me express myself. It focused the attention on the battles that the LGBTQIA+ is fighting in the USA, as well as in Europe and Italy, too.

 

In September 2019, I had the honor of being part of “People Who Care”, a show that talks about the importance of community in a country where public health care is missing. It was very fulfilling, since it was presented at the Schimmel Center (a theater in Manhattan with over 600 seats) and it was sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nations.

It is because of performances like this that I want to thank my teachers at AADA in New York, where I trained as an actress, and also my first acting teacher, Michele Ciardulli, of Campo Teatrale Acting School in Casoretto, Milan.

What can you tell us about your experience in Los Angeles?        

I wrote a play entitled ”Extraordinary Aliens” with two other foreign actresses (Flavia Sgoifo And Bianca Waechter). It is not about aliens, but it is the name of artists that apply for a visa in the United States of America. It is based on a true story, in fact based on a lot of true events: it’s autobiographical of our experiences. We opened on March 15th, 2019 in New York at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò. We were also invited to perform our play at the Hollywood Fringe festival in June, it was fantastic! We were able to meet a lot of young artists and experience for a week the city as tourists, as well.

How is Los Angeles like compared to New York?

First off, seeing Los Angeles was a dream come true for me, I had wanted to go there since I was a child. American movies are made there: I saw the legendary Warner Brothers and Paramount studios! I have to say though, LA is very different from the Big Apple. It is very spread out, and there are also a lot of different people there, with different lifestyles. I prefer the frenzy vibe and the setup of New York.

What are your current projects?

I have a few projects in the works. I have been rehearsing and performing a play “‘20” at Peridance Capezio Center. It was directed by my friend Luca Villa, a choreographer and Director from my hometown. We have more performances planned, but everything is being postponed considering the times that we are living in with the COVID-19 emergency. Everything has been rescheduled and I hope, as everyone else, that this situation will be resolved soon.

My first TV Pilot will come out this year, it’s called “La Santera” and I have a supporting role in it. Fingers crossed!
